Build Advocate helps homeowners make sound construction decisions before, during and after a build. We review budgets, drawings and specifications, test how proposed work can actually be delivered, compare builders, and examine contracts, programmes and payment plans. When work is under way or a project goes wrong, we help establish the facts, understand the risks and decide what to do next.
Where relevant, we identify practical construction risks involving party walls, neighbouring properties, access, protection and sequencing from the information supplied. Build Advocate does not act as a party wall surveyor and does not provide legal advice.
1. Plans, scope and cost risks
Review your existing plans and project information before you commit to a builder. Identify unclear scope, budget assumptions and practical risks that need resolving.
2. Design and project preparation
Review drawings, specifications and missing decisions before builders price the work. We look for unclear scope, practical buildability issues and details that could lead to costly assumptions.
3. Builder selection and appointment
Compare builders on the work they have actually allowed for, their relevant experience, evidence, proposed programme and contract terms. Understand the differences before making an appointment or paying a deposit.
4. Contract, programme and payment protection
Check what the contract says will be built, when work is expected and how payments relate to progress and procurement. We flag unclear responsibilities and payment risks before they become disputes.
5. Support during construction
When questions arise on site, we help establish what has happened, examine the relevant documents and identify a sensible next step. Specialist inspection or technical advice can be brought in where needed.
6. Completion and handover
Review outstanding work, handover information and final questions. Understand what remains unresolved and when on-site or specialist checking is needed.

Up to three builders, properly compared
Review trading history, available references and credentials alongside the quotation, exclusions, allowances, programme and payment terms. Receive a like-for-like comparison and clear questions before appointment.
Stage support through completion
Agree check-ins at the major stages of your build, linked to inspection and payment milestones where practical. Send progress evidence and arrange a call when you need to discuss a concern within the agreed support scope.

Your £999 package includes one consultation call and agreed remote milestone check-ins through completion. The initial written review is delivered within five working days after scope acceptance and essential information, subject to your service-start choice.
We review the evidence you supply and identify matters requiring on-site or specialist checking. Additional reviews, visits, redesign and dispute management are separately scoped.
